(February 14, 2023 – Vancouver. BC) The Vancouver Film Critics Circle (VFCC) spent the weekend deciding on which International and Canadian films would receive their blessing. Their choices were release yesterday and the event took place live for the first time in three years at the VIFF Theatre on last night. I Like Movies, which had its World Premiere at TIFF 2022 was named Best Canadian Picture. It was also honoured with awards for Best Screenplay (Chandler Levack), Best Actor – Male (Isaiah Lehtinen), and Best Supporting Actor – Male (Percy Hynes White). As our Film Correspondent Thom Ernst wrote when looking back at the best films of 2022, “This is Levack’s first feature, and it sets expectations for more remarkable works ahead.” Sarah Polly was named Best Director for her new feature Women Talking.
