Roger Spottiswoode is the son of Raymond Spottiswoode an exproducer and technical planning officer with the National Film Board Raised in England he worked in television and as a documentary film editor His work on three Sam Peckinpah films iStraw Dogsi 1971 iThe Getawayi 1972 and iPat Garretti 1973 shifted his career to the mainstream He continued editing features and continued working in television but then in 1980 he made his directorial debut with iTerror Traini starring Jamie Lee Curtisbrbrbr
