(June 25, 2024 – Ottawa, ON) The Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) has announced their Official Selection in its Young Audiences 7+ and Teen Audiences 13+ competition categories. The newest competition category consists of ten animated works that bridge the gap between adult and child audiences, including the latest from Pixar Animation Studio’s SparkShorts program. This year’s Young Audiences 7+ includes nine selections, including a film from Portuguese high school students. The Teen Audiences 13+ will be judged by teens in the audience at the Festival, while the Young Audiences 7+ will be judged by the OIAF Kids Jury.
“Each year we try to find an array of voices and visions to introduce younger audiences to sides of animation that they can’t easily access,” says OIAF Artistic Director Chris Robinson. “These films will hopefully inspire and encourage a new generation of artists to follow their own creative paths.”
