Filmed in and around Toronto and Hamilton, Ontario, the story is actually set in a small prairie-town named, Weedsville. It gets its nickname of Weirdsville thanks to a collection of oddballs, strange occurrences, and people who don’t seem to have the get up and go to get up and go. Dexter, played by Scott Speedman, and his pal, Royce (Wes Bentley) are typical Weirdsville slackers. They would have continued on some directionless path had it not been for the untimely death of Royce`s girlfriend, Matilda (Taryn Manning) who O.D.’d on their stash of drugs. Since calling the police would only land them in jail they decide the best thing to do is bury her in the basement of concession building at the Drive-In theater that`s closed for the season. And their plan would have worked if they hadn’t run into a Satanic cult performing a ritual sacrifice.
Completed in 2006, Weirdsville premiered at the 2007 Slamdance Film Festival in January of 2007.
