96 minutes – Drama
Set in the opening months of World War II when Germany invaded Poland, German Officer Oskar and his Jewish girlfriend Rachel are deeply in love. With the start of the war their future together is at first threatened and then destroyed as the German war machine initiates a series of village massacres across the newly conquered country. Convinced that she will never see her true love again, and now an expectant mother, Rachel marries a respectable Jewish man Bernard, who hopes to earn her love by raising her child as his own. Much later, Rachel and Oskar unexpectedly find each other and as the war moves to the Russian front, one man will make the ultimate sacrifice.
The Poet premiered at the Staten Island Film Festival on June 21, 2007.
