When her grown daughter Sumi, a school teacher in Winnipeg, has a bad fall and is hospitalized, her anxious mother and widow, Sara (Kim Ho-jung), catches a flight from Seoul to be with her daughter, who at the time remains in a medically induced coma. Once Sara sets herself up in the young woman’s apartment, she discovers she doesn’t really know her daughter at all. A chance meeting with Sumi’s co-worker Amaya (Amara Pedroso Saquel) allows Sara to learn more about the life her daughter has led, but also learns her daughter had chosen to exclude her.
