Sabah is a love story and a fable about living in two cultures simultaneously: Syrian and Canadian. Arsinée Khanjian stars as the 40–year–old Sabah, a Muslim woman who lives quietly with her mother and is watched over by her overbearing brother. Sabah doesn’t intend to rock the boat, and seems as surprised as anyone when she finds herself attracted to a nice Canadian guy she meets at a local swimming pool. She develops a tentative romantic attachment that comes into full bloom during clandestine meetings in cafés, parks and his workshop. Sabah is a slight, undemanding film that treats its subjects with respect and compassion, but it`s so bland, politically correct and tentative that it appears made without any obvious passion.
