Rhinoceros Eyes is a darkly humorous story about a reclusive young man named Chep who lives and works in a cluttered store for movie props. His main source of satisfaction seems to be watching movies and letting his vivid imagination run free. One day a girl named Fran, a set designer in movies, walks in and Chep quickly develops a crush. Fran insists that the props she needs must be the real thing even if it happens to be a human finger, or a pair of rhinoceros eyes. Utterly devoted to fulfilling Fran`s needs, Chep prowls around at night looking for her strange requests. And as each request is just a little more weird than the last, Chep is thrown into increasingly bizarre situations. As the thefts escalate, detective Phil Barbara, who also happens to sing and dance, is assigned to the case. Rhinoceros Eyes had its world premiere at the 2003 Toronto International Film Festival and won the Discovery Program Award. It opened for a brief run in New York in 2004.
