A single-parent inherits custody of her teenage son who has ADHD and can often be impulsive and violent. She finds hope when a mysterious neighbour, Kyla, inserts herself into the mother and son’s household, providing the mother with needed support. There is infatuation and difficulty, but they try to make ends meet, and all three find a kind of balance… and hope.

Mommy was one of three Canadian feature films to screen at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. It swept the Canadian Screen Awards winning an incredible nine of the coveted trophies including Best Motion Picture and Best Director for Xavier Dolan. It won 10 Jutra Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, and the Cineplex Billet d’or, which is given to the Québec film that earns the most at the box office.
