Ever wonder why people stop sleeping? For our lead character, Joel Rothman, a psychotherapist with an impossible case of insomnia, it could be because his wife just left him after an adulterous incident at their cottage. Or maybe he`s worried over the fact his nine year old daughter, Jenny, has become despondent and detached. Although he struggles to communicate with her, she not been the same since his wife split and while Jenny sleeps, Joel obsessively replays his wife’s final answering machine message – a bitter, angry good-bye, while he draws sheep on the wall. To make matters worse, his job security is dangling by a thread when he is assigned three psychotherapy patients, Victor, Chandra and Sophie. They all exhibit extreme symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Maybe, just maybe it`s because Joel might be their last hope. As Joel looks into the lives of his patients and as he uncovers their secrets, he also begins to realize that the key to helping them, could be the key to helping himself. If only he could stay awake behind the wheel of his car.
