Mado (France Arbor) is a former laundress, who gave up her daughter for adoption in the early 1960s. That daughter, Marie-Madeleine (Sylvie Drapeau), has grown up to be a beautiful middle-aged woman in her forties. Now, 36 years later, her daughter and Mado’s granddaughter Madeleine (Isadora Galwey), is looking for her father. This get-together of The Three Madeleines, as the film is titled in English, is for them the starting point of an adventure. Riding together in a convertible they set off on a road trip for a photography assignment in the Gaspé region of Québec. As the travel from Montreal to Percé, through Kamouraska, Le Bic and Petite-Vallée, they dive into their memories and their dreams and get to know each other.
Guylaine Dionne’s first feature film was presented at the Directors’ Fortnight at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival.
