Bruno Hamel is thirty-eight-years-old and a surgeon. He lives in Drummondville, Québec with Sylvie, his spouse, and Jasmine, his eight-year-old daughter. Like most people with perfect, tiny lives they are a typical, happy family. And then on an otherwise perfect autumn day, Jasmine is violated and slaughtered. With their world turned upside down, Bruno and Sylvie’s life begins to fall apart. But when the police catch the murderer, the dark side of Bruno’s mind begins to fixate on a terrible plan to capture and torture the man who killed his daughter. Successful and now emboldened, Hamel taunts the police with a terse warning that the monster who took his daughter’s life will need to endure 7 days of suffering. Les Sept jours du talion is based on the novel by Patrick Senécal, who wrote the screenplay.
