Jack tells the inspirational story of the former Canadian New Democratic Party Leader, Jack Layton, played by Rick Roberts, pictured above. The biopic captures the life and times of the late politician, whose historic election campaign while battling cancer captured the attention of the nation. The film delves into the captivating love story between Jack Layton and Olivia Chow (Sook-Yin Lee) and offers a look inside the public and personal life of the famed politician. It follows the couple through their shared life in Toronto municipal politics from 1980-1990, onto the national stage in the 2000`s, and up to the last federal election campaign in 2011, compounded by his tragic passing only weeks later from cancer. It depicts their political fights, victories and failures as they rose to prominence, all while deepening their personal connection to each other.
