Shot in spring 2023 in Paris, Ontario, Home Free begins with a focus on Herb (Art Hindle). Diagnosed with a fatal brain tumour, Herb accepts his fate and decides to die on his own terms. He sets out those terms when his three daughters, Daisy, Rain and Ivy, return home for their parents’ fiftieth wedding anniversary: he wants to know everything about his daughters’ lives, the good, the bad, and the ugly. While they absorb their father’s news, the sisters begin to unpack their childhood, reflect on their present lives and take a deep dive into buried secrets, repressed conflicts, and deep personal truths that they’ve never openly discussed before.
