When an early 1980s punk group reunites for a final farewell tour across the Canadian west, group leaders Joe Dick (perfectly depicted by then real-life rocker Hugh Dillon) and Billy Talent (Callum Keith Rennie) bring their on-going personal feud along for the ride. Director Bruce McDonald (who appears in the film as himself) is in his element with this satiric effort and pumps up the volume throughout the zany proceedings. Along with documentary-style footage, he combines clever effects shots with a driving, rock ‘n’ roll soundtrack. Baker’s screenplay retains key elements from the Brad Turner book and makes it all work on screen. – Essential Guide to Canadian Film.

Hard Core Logo won the Genie Award for Best Achievement in Music – Original Song for the track “Who the Hell Do You Think You Are?” and was nominated for 5 other awards including Best Film and Best Direction. It was named Best Canadian Feature at the Sudbury Cinéfest and received the $10,000 CITY-TV award for Best Canadian Film at the Vancouver International Film Festival where Noel Baker won the Rogers prize for Best Canadian Screenplay.
