It took a Canadian, U.K., Icelandic, and German co-pro to bring this novel turned screenplay to life. Based on the American novel “Nobody thinks of Greenland”, this bleak comedy follows the misfortune of American soldier Cpl. Rudy Spruance (played by Jason Biggs), as he endeavors to endure his mis-assigned post at the top secret military base of Quangattarsa, Greenland. Through comedic happenstance, he has been lost in the system, and dropped off in the Arctic. His only hope for escape from his glacial surroundings are quite quickly dashed when he is told, according to all goverment reports, he no longer exists. He has been mistaken for another soldier entirely, who, as it turns out, is under the demented command of Lane Woolwrap (Jeremy Northam). An isolating fear looms over the soldier as does a growing realization that that everyone stationed at Quangattarsa have lost their minds, especially an parapalegic, amnesiac, ex-vet known as “Guy X” played by Michael Ironside, who alarmingly comes out of his coma whenever Rudy talks to him. As the bond between Guy and Rudy grows, the old vet begins disclosing the base`s bizarre secrets, entrusting the misplaced soldier with vital infomation about just how disturbed the U.S. military can be.
