The title, in English, is It’s the Heart that Dies Last. In the movie, C’est le coeur qui meurt en dernier is the title of a book that has brought little known author Julian, now 47, (Gabriel Sabourin) the public recognition he has long sought. It’s an autobiographical look at his life and in particular the details of his special relationship with his mother (Denise Filiatrault) who is now confined to a home and suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Having severed his ties with his mother years ago, Julian decides to repair the relationship in an attempt to recapture so much lost time. Finally reconnected, his mother asks the unthinkable, she wants his help to end her life. As time begins to run out, old, well-buried secrets resurface and both are forced to confront the demons of their past.
