Based on the play by René-Daniel Dubois, Being at Home with Claude is set in Montreal on a humid, muggy summer evening. Yves (Roy Dupuis) has killed Claude and surrenders to the police. The film traces the last moments of a long interrogation as the investigating inspector (Jacques Godin) tries to piece together the facts and shed light on the motives that led a prostitute to kill one of his lovers. Through Yves’ responses during the interrogation, we can reconstruct the facts as well as pick up on the emotions which for weeks, months or years have brought Yves to this inevitable outcome.

Being at Home with Claude also screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1992 Cannes Film Festival.
