A Simple Curve tells the not so simple story of 27 year old Caleb, played by Kris Lemche, and the relationship he has with his father, Jim, played by Michael Hogan. Up until now, they have always been like best friends. His dad is an easy-going kind of guy who fled service in the US military by coming to Canada. A true perfectionist, he now owns a small carpentry shop in British Columbia`s Kootenays, and father and son spend their days crafting different high-end wood products. But tensions are on the rise thanks to a sudden increase in costs and falling revenue because of direct competition with newer, mass produced, particle board products. On the verge of bankruptcy, an old friend of Jim`s arrives. Matthew, played by Matt Craven, takes to Caleb and encourges him to persue his own dreams. Caleb has long thought that the family should look at expanding into the hospitality business by building a luxury fishing lodge that may bring in more money and keep the family business afloat. His father has always been dead set against the idea. Caleb decides to leave the paradise he has always known in hopes of finding a new one of his own creation.
