(May 16, 2016 – Cannes, France) There are red carpets and then there are red carpets. Certainly one of the most prestigious must be the one rolled out each year in the Mediterranean city of Cannes on the French Riviera. Yesterday it was the turn of some of the cast and crew of the Canadian film Mean Dreams that got a chance to strut their stuff for fans and press and other filmmakers.

Mean Draems, a suspenseful coming-of-age tale, had its world premiere at Cannes in the Director’s Fortnight section of the Festival. Toronto-based director Morlando and his cast enjoyed lengthy applause following the screening.
The film makes use of the Canadian Shield around Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. As the story unfolds the teen lovers Casey and Jonas, played by Sophie Nélisse (Monsieur Lazhar, The Book Thief) and Josh Wiggins (Hellion), are fleeing the clutches and murderous intent of a corrupt cop, played by Bill Paxton.
It is expected that Mean Dreams will probably screen at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September before going on to its theatrical release.
