Kevin Tierney

Kevin Tierney was an award-winning producer and screenwriter and the founder of Park Ex Pictures, a company specializing in long-form filmmaking. Tierney produced and was cowriter of the 2006 hit film Bon Cop Bad Cop which was often said to be the first bilingual feature film made in Canada. It not only won a Genie Award for Best Picture but went on win the Golden Reel Award as the highest grossing Canadian movie that year. Tierney was a member of the Boards of the Canadian Film and Television Producers Association and Montreals Cine Gael Irish Film festival. He also served as President of the Board of the Cinematheque Québecoise.  Tierney’s television productions were nominated for 11 Emmys and 12 Geminis. In 1993 he produced the documentary Pierre Elliott Trudeau Memoirs with Rock Demers, which went on to win a Gemeaux for Best Documentary. Among his other productions are the movies for television including Choice: The Henry Morgentaler Story, Varian’s War and the mini-series More Tales of the City,  P.T. Barnum and Bonanno: A Godfather’s Story. His passing was announced online by his son Jacob Tierney with the words “My dad the amazing Kevin Tierney left us this morning at 4:15 My sister, mom and I were all there.” Kevin Tierney died following a long fight with cancer.
