Jason Buxton studied film production at Simon Fraser University and the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. His debut feature, Blackbird, screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and won the Best Canadian Feature Film Award at the 2012 Vancouver International Film Festival. In January 2013, it was announced that Buxton would receive the prestigious Claude Jutra Award, given to first-time feature film directors. His 2024 feature, Sharp Corner, had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. His credits are listed with his work as a director first.
