Hidden Assets on Super Channel

(January 20, 2022 – Toronto, ON) Super Channel has announced the six-part international crime drama, Hidden Assets, will make its Canadian premiere on Sunday, February 13 at 9 p.m. ET. Starring Angeline Ball (Deadly Cuts, Keeping Faith, Acceptable Risk), each hour-long episode of the Ireland/Belgium/Canada co-production will also be available on Super Channel On Demand the day following its linear premiere. Costars include Canadian actors Charlie Carrick and Michael Ironside (pictured above).
The basic series plot centres on a routine raid led by Angeline Ball’s character, Emer Berry, a detective in the Irish Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB). It turns out a small-time drug dealer has been receiving substantial funding from a seemingly untraceable source – not in cash, but in rough diamonds.

When these diamonds are linked to a series of bombings in Belgium, Emer is forced to work with Police Commissioner Christian De Jong (Wouter Hendrickx). Eventually banding together, they unravel a political conspiracy fuelling domestic unrest for financial gain; caught up in this web of greed are the Brannigans, a wealthy Irish dynasty with ties to Antwerp. Drawn into a battle of wits with the family, Emer, Christian, and the CAB team must follow the money to stop another terrorist attack – before it’s too late.
Alongside Angeline Ball and Wouter Hendrickx (Blackout, Cordon) costars include Simone Kirby (His Dark Materials, Jimmy’s Hall) as Bibi Melnick. The Irish and international cast also includes Peter Coonan (Peaky Blinders, Love/Hate), Cathy Belton (Red Rock, Miss Scarlet and the Duke), Sophie Jo Wasson (Rialto) and as mentioned above Canadians Charlie Carrick (Abandoned, Angelique’s Isle) and Michael Ironside (The Alienist, Angel of Darkness).
Commissioned by RTÉ and Acorn TV in association with Screen Ireland and Screen Flanders, Hidden Assets is produced by Irish production company Saffron Moon and co-produced by leading Belgian producer Potemkino & Canada’s Facet 4. Filmed in Antwerp, Belgium, and Co. Clare, Ireland, it was directed by Emmy-nominated Thaddeus O’Sullivan (Into The Storm, Silent Witness) and leading Belgian director Kadir Balci (Cold Courage). Written by Peter McKenna (Kin, The Musketeers) and Morna Regan who was recently named on the BBC New Talent Hotlist, Hidden Assets is produced by Siobhán Bourke and Kathryn Lennon (Whistleblower, Acceptable Risk) and Anna-Sue Greenberg (Acceptable Risk) and co-produced by Peter De Maegd (Cold Courage) and Tom Hameeuw, with Stephen Greenberg & James Mitchell as Executive Producers.
Super Channel is available via most cable providers across Canada as well as streaming on Amazon Prime Video channels and Apple TV+.
