François Girard

Franois Girard grew up in a family that was hooked on education His grandfather was a talented musician and at first it appeared as if the young Girard would follow in those footsteps Much of his early career and much of his film career has been centred around music He began playing with video creating experimental films based on architectural images and dance in the early 1980s He made his featurefilm debut with iCargoi and four years later grabbed international attention with the film iThirtyTwo Short Films About Glenn Gouldi which he cowrote with a hrefmckellardonDon McKellara Extending his talent to the stage he made his debut as an opera director with iSymphony of Psalmesi and iOedipus Rexi by Igor Stravinski and Jean Cocteau which went on to win eight Dora Mavor Moore Awards His 2019 film emThe Song of Namesem was selected to have its World Premiere at TIFF 2019brbrbr
