Ellen Page, Nina Dobrev, Kiefer Sutherland in Flatliners

(June 13, 2017 – Toronto, ON) It was a film that helped make Kiefer Sutherland’s career. The original Flatliners was released in 1990 and costars included Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, William Baldwin and Canadian-born Oliver Platt. The new version, from Columbia Pictures, is set for release this September and Sutherland, now older and wiser, reprises his role as Nelson from the original film.

This version of Flatliners, shot in and around Chicago as well as at the Warner Bros Burbank Studios, costars Ellen Page, Nina Dobrev, Tyler Hynes, and Steve Byers along with Mexican-born Diego Luna and American actress Charlotte McKinney to name just some of the cast. The story remains the same for both films:

Five medical students, hoping to gain insight into the mystery of what lies beyond the confines of life, embark on a daring and dangerous experiment. By stopping their hearts for short periods of time, each triggers a near-death experience.   As the investigation becomes more and more perilous, they are forced to confront the sins of their pasts, as well as contend with the paranormal consequences of trespassing to the other side.

Directed by Niels Arden Oplev and written by Ben Ripley, Flatliners is scheduled to open September 29.
