Born in Rhode Island, Don Carmody moved with his family first to Boston and then when he was 11 years old to Canada and lived in Rosemere, a small community north of Montreal. He attended Loyola High School and studied art at the Musée des beauxarts. When it was time to go to college he asked his teacher at the Musée, the well known Québec artist Charles Gagnon, where he might be able to get a degree. As it turned out, Gagnon had been hired as the first film teacher at Loyola College and they would be offering a degree program. Carmody majored in film production and later obtained a law degree at McGill University. His first work in film was as a gofer on the Robert Altman film McCabe and Mrs Miller, which was shot in British Columbia. He is pictured at the 2015 Canadian Screen Awards holding his 9th award for Top Grossing Canadian Film for the historical feature Pompeii, which was shot in Toronto. These are his credits as a Producer, Coproducer or Executive Producer.
