Derek Lamb

Derek Lamb began his film career as an animatorwriter with the National Film Board in Montral in 1959 In his time at the NFB he played some role in over 200 productions as a director producer animator composer and even as a singer He taught animation at Harvard and McGill Universities and the National Institute of Design India He returned to the NFB as an executive producer in 1976 and in 1977 he became director of its English animation department During his five years as director he produced two Academy Award winners emSpecial Deliveryem 1978 and emEvery Childem 1980 He was the executive producer on the British Academy Award winner emThe Hockey Sweaterem 1982 He is also known for animating the opening credits and designing the stage sets that provided the backdrop for the longrunning PBS series Mystery using original artwork by Edward Gorey Beginning in 1983 Lamb and his wife Janet Perlman owned and operated an independent film production company Lamb Perlman Productions with offices in Montreal and Cambridge Massachusetts In 1986 Lamb was an artistinresidence and lecturer at the Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts at Harvard He had extensive credits as a producer or executve producer and worked with many people in codirecting coanimating coproducing roles This is just a small sampling from a very long list of projects We have not listed his credits as a producer coproducer or executive producer Derek Lamb died after a long battle with cancerbrbrbr
