Brigitte Berman attended Queen’s University in Kingston Ontario where she studied English and Film. She won an Academy Award for her feature documentary Artie Shaw: Time is All You’ve Got. Her 2016 documentary about Gordon Pinsent The River of My Dreams screened at TIFF in September 2016. Her 2018 documentary Hugh Hefner: After Dark Speaking Out In America, revisits a previous subject and had its Canadian Premiere at the 2018 Whistler Film Festival. It focuses almost exclusively on the two late night syndicated series that Playboy produced. Playboy’s Penthouse from 1959 to 1960 and Playboy After Dark from 1968 to 1970.
