Aubrey Nealon

The son of American draft dodgers Aubrey Nealon was born in BCs remote Slocan Valley where he was raised free of such modern contrivances as telephones electricity and regular meals At age fifteen he headed for Vancouver and embarked on a career as a youth actor highlighted by his turn as Olaf the Finnish Exchange Student on the teen soap opera Fifteen Aubreys interest soon moved behind the camera where he observed that people seemed generally to be having a better time and in 1995 he enrolled at the Vancouver Film School from which he graduated Nealon is the director of the acclaimed short films iAbe Manhoodi and iIn Memoriami iA Simple Curvei which screened at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2005 and went into distribution on February 3 2006 is his first feature It won the NFB Carolyn Fouriezos Award for Best First Feature at the Cinfest Sudbury International Film Festival and opened the Canadian Images section of the Vancouver International Film Festival Nealon was named the winner of the 2004 Don Haig Award brbrbr
