Born in England of Jamaican parents, Trey Anthony began doing stand-up comedy during African Nubian Comedy Nights at Toronto’s Yuk-Yuk’s Comedy Cabaret. She is an actor, producer, screenwriter and playwright best known for her award-winning play and television series Da Kink in My Hair. Other plays include I Am Not a Dinner Mint, The Crap Women Swallow to Stay in a Relationship! How Black Mothers Say I Love You, and Black Girl in Love (with Herself). Among her awards and honours is a NAACP Theatre Award in 2007, a Gemini Award in 2008 and the Harry Jerome Award in 2009.
