Tara Slone

Born in Montréal, Tara Slone grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia and started out thinking about a career as an opera singer. She began studying classical voice when she was just 12 years old and started to get a degree in music when she was 18. After just one year of college she moved to Montréal to attend the theatre program at Concordia University. At 22, she moved again, this time to Toronto to pursue an acting career and to start a band. In 1996, she answered an ad in a newspaper and became the lead singer of Joydrop. Eight months later, they signed with Tommy Boy Records and their debut CD, Metasexual, was released in 1999. More recently she has gravitated toward television and was the host of CityTV Calgary’s Breakfast Television from August of 2010 to August of 2015.
