Tamara Hickey was born in Halifax but grew up in Prince Edward Island and now lives in New York. She was 18 when she left home to study theatre at what was then known as Ryerson Polytechnic University in Toronto, with a major in dance. She performed in several made-for-TV movies and understudied the role of Babette, the French feather duster in Beauty and the Beast at Toronto’s Princess of Wales Theatre. Her breakthrough came when she was cast to play Robyn Parsons on The Associates which premiered in January 2001.
