Suzie Payne

Suzie Payne, a graduate of UBC’s theatre school, has worked as an actor, director, teacher, and writer. As a teacher she has taught in high schools, as well as creating special courses for people with disabilities. In 2003 she taught Scene Study at the National Theatre School in Montréal. She then directed the inaugural professional production at the O’Keefe Ranch stage in Vernon, British Columbia. A founder of Tamahnous Theatre, Headlines Theatre, and the Women in View Festival, she has received Jesse Richardson Award nominations for both acting and writing. Just two very different acting credits include The Final Performance of Vaslav Nijinsky at Toronto’s Tarragon Theatre which she directed and appeared in in 1976. The CBC-TV production Women in Fish focused on the history of the fishing community on British Columbia’s Galiano Island.
