Sophie Lorain

Born into a family with close ties to the performing arts, Sophie Lorain trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, England. Since then, she has taken to the stage on several occasions, working with André Brassard, Alexandre Hausvater, Robert Lepage, Denise Filiatrault, Yves Desgagnés and many other leading figures in Québec theatre. She has worked with numerous outstanding filmmakers, including Denys Arcand, Émile Gaudreault, Denise Filiatrault, Allan Goldstein, Johanne Prégent, François Bouvier, Bernard Favre, Sébastien Rose and Tim Nelson. In 2017, she played the young Mrs. Lapierre in the feature film C’est le coeur qui meurt en dernier, by Alexis Durand-Brault, and in 2019, was featured in Myriam Bouchard’s Mon cirque à moi. She made her name on television thanks to her roles in the hit series Scoop, Urgence and Omertà. However, her role in the Fortier series is the one that made her a household name. For several years worked as a director on television productions such as La galère, Nos étés, Fortier, Un homme mort and Nouvelle adresse. In 2008, she signed on to direct her first feature film, Les grandes chaleurs, and in 2014 her first screenplay with Catherine Léger for the feature film La petite reine. Sophie Lorain played the titled character of Béatrice Clément in 48 episodes of Au secours de Béatrice from 2014 to 2016. In the 2017 film C’est le coeur qui meurt en dernier, she played the younger version of a character played by her mother Denise Filiatrault.
