Severn Thompson

Severn Thompson pictured as Sister Anne in a publicity still for the series Helix. Thompson starred as Mazo de la Roche in the NFB/Bravo film The Mystery of Mazo De La Roche and appeared in Atom Egoyan’s feature Chloe and Philip Barker’s feature Night Vision. She is also well-known for her stage roles n Canada’s major theaters including Portia in The Merchant of Venice for the Stratford Festival, Diana in Diana of Dobson, Jennifer in The Doctor’s Dilemma and Varya in The Cherry Orchard for the Shaw Festival at Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. Writing about her turn as Maggie in the Tennessee William’s play Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at Montreal’s Alvin Segal Theatre, reviewer Kristine Berey wrote, “The role of Brick’s love-starved wife is one of the great gifts Williams has given to women in theatre. Severn Thompson plays her with a perfect blend of vulnerability and spunk. Her brilliant smile meeting the enthusiastic audience at the end of the performance revealed how far she must have had to travel from her personal sense of self into the darkness that is Maggie.”
