Ruth Springford

Margaret Ruth Springford was a Canadian radio, stage, television and film actress. She appeared in many early CBC shows such as A Gift to Last and won a Canadian Film Award for the drama Has Anyone Here Seen Denny? in 1969. Her career saw her work at the CBC studios for radio and television, to the stages of the Crest and Royal Theatres in Toronto to film sets and locations in Hollywood and New Zealand. She held her own in scenes with Dean Martin in the 1968 western 5 Card Stud. A longtime member of ACTRA, she was recognized for her worK with the Andrew Allan Award, the John Drainie Award, the ACTRA Award and the Dora Mavor Moore Award. She was 89 when she died at Etobicoke General Hospital after a short illness.
