Richard Carlyle began his television and film career back in the so-called Golden Age of live television drama. He appeared on Studio One, Kraft Television Theatre, and Playhouse 90, to name just a few. In his first episode of Studio One in 1950, entitled The Last Cruise, he co-starred with DeForest Kelley nearly seventeen years before they would work together on an episode of Star Trek. Carlyle was a long-time member of the Los Angeles theater company Theatre West and ran the apprentice program there for many years.
