Percy Winter was also a stage actor including an appearance on Broadway in Hearts Are Trumps in 1927. He directed the 1916 film, The Other Girl, which was a comedy based on the play by Augustus E. Thomas. It was filmed on Staten Island, New York at a time when early filmmakers had just started to discover Hollywood. For example, Fred Scott’s Movie Ranch, which was located on Sand Lane in the South Beach district of Staten Island is usually referred to as “the birthplace of the Western” and was in business from the 1890s to 1914.
