Patricia Owens first moved to Toronto and went to public school in that city before her father, an inventor, moved the family to England where the young Patricia finished her education. Interested in theatre from an early age her first role was working as a prompter, scene shifter and furniture and sign painter. She went on to better things in theatre and also worked as a model and would show up on radio and TV between stage and film work. Interested in movies as a teenager, Patricia Owens was 18 when she made her first films in England beginning a career that would span less than 25 years. She was “discovered” by Hollywood in 1956 and signed a long-term contract with 20th Century-Fox. It was also in 1956 that she married writer-producer Cy Bartlett. Usually remembered for costarring in the 1958 film, The Fly, Owens retired 10 years later after portraying Richard Egan’s love interest in the low-budget espionage thriller The Destructors in 1968. It is believed her last professional appearance was in an episode of Lassie also in 1968.
