Michie Mee started out in life as Michelle McCullock, and is the queen of Canadian hip hop. She holds the distinction of being the first female MC in Canada to sign to US record deal. Since she began in 1987, Mee has successfully performed and recorded with internationally reknowned and respected artists and was the first Canadian rapper to gain a recording deal with a major U.S. label. In 1987, Mee was featured on Break’n Out, an all-Canadian compilation that was produced by the late Scott La Rock and KRS-ONE, (B.D.P.). In 1988 she signed an international recording contract with First Priority/Atlantic and released her first album Jamaican Funk – Canadian Style.
