Michael Sarrazin was born Jacques Michel André Sarrazin. After studying acting in New York, he made his first movie appearances thanks to the National Film Board of Canada and CBC TV when he was about 17. In 1965 he signed contract with Universal and two years later moved to Hollywood. He gained immediate attention for his supporting work opposite George C. Scott in 1967s, The Flim-Flam Man and and had his first taste of real fame opposite Jane Fonda in the 1969 film, They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? Michael Sarrazin died in Montreal after a brief battle with cancer. He is pictured above in a publicity photo for the 1971 film Believe in Me, which costarred Jacqueline Bisset, in the Northernstars Collection.
