Maggie Huculak

Maggie Huculak has found a home on theatre stages across Toronto and across Canada. A member of the Necessary Angel company, she performed in the original Tamara, as well as Seven Lears, King Lear, Beating Heart Cadaver and Hysterica, which she co-authored. She is also the co-author of the collectively created The Betrayal which won a Chalmers Award in 1999. A six-time Dora Mavor Moore nominee she was given a Dora for another play she authored, Mein. Huculak has also performed in the premieres of such notable Canadian plays as The Lion in the Streets, Body and Soul, The Little Years and Play Murder. She has had leading roles at the Stratford Festival, Canadian Stage, Shaw Festival, Toronto’s Tarragon Theatre and London’s Grand Theatre. Her voice work includes being the sole narrator of the English version of the epic CBC documentary series Canada: A People’s History. She was also the narrator for a dramatization of Michael Ondaatje’s In the Skin of a Lion and The English Patient.
