Luke Farrell Kirby was born in Hamilton, Ontario to two American expatriates who had moved to Canada in 1974 after deciding to get out of New York City and buy a farm with the $500.00 they had saved. Kirby grew up in a rural Ontario setting but showed an interest in acting at a young age and attended the National Theatre School of Canada in Montréal. Now based in New York City, Kirby costarred as lawyer Jon Stern in 30 episodes of Rectify between 2013 and 2016. It was SundanceTV’s first original series. No stranger to television, Kirby also played a regular role in The Movie Network’s TV series Slings and Arrows which starred Paul Gross. He plays the recurring role of famous comedian Lenny Bruce on the hit TV series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which brought him an Emmy Nomination in July 2023.
