DeCoutere, who sometimes is credited as Decoutere, or De Coutere, grew up and went to school in Montréal, Québec. Introduced to the stage through dance, she was in a number of productions through high school and minored in theatre in university. Immediately after graduation, Lucy traveled across Canada with a theatre company for five months and started dabbling in the film industry shortly thereafter.
