Luce Guilbeault

Luce Guilbeault began her career on stage at a very young age, but gained wide popularity in Québec after making her debut in the series Opération-mystère. She was offered her first major film role by Denys Arcand in 1971, playing a bewildered wife in La maudete galette. She would work with Arcand again playing the title riole in his 1973 film Réjeanne Padovani. For a few years Guilbeault starred in more than one film a year, and later in her career became a documentary writer-producer, while still continuing to accept the occasional role as an actor. The 1980 documentary, Some American Feminists was co-directed by Guilbeault, Nicole Brossard and Margaret Wescott. In 2000, the National Film Board produced a 45-minute documentary about Guilbeault titled Luce Guilbeault, explorActrice.
