Louis “Big Lou” Pitoscia started out in the ring. That is, he was a professional wrestler. And since that’s exactly the same as acting, when he gave up on the ring in the early 1950s it was relatively easy to make the switch to performing for the camera instead of an arena audience. It was another ex-wrestler-turned-actor, Mike Mazurki, who invited Big Lou to Hollywood where he landed a bit part in My Favorite Spy. But he didn’t want a Hollywood life and returned to Canada. It was at the dawn of television and he became one of the regular members of the supporting cast on The Wayne and Shuster Show.
