Lolita Davidovich was born to Yugoslavian parents and grew up speaking Serbo-Croatian. When she was 10, her parents divorced and she stayed with her mother. Determined to become an actress, Davidovich moved to Chicago when she was still quite young to take acting classes. Like most aspiring actors her first roles were bit parts. After five years she went after her first starring role in the film Blaze. It took some six months of fiercely competitive auditioning to land the part of the notorious Louisiana stripper, Blaze Starr, who became the mistress of Governor Earl Long, played by Paul Newman in the 1998 movie.
