A favorite of director David Cronenberg, Les Carlson appeared in four of his movies including Videodrome, The Dead Zone, and Cronenberg’s segment contribution to the short film, Camera. Although born in the United States he lived and worked in Canada for decades. He was nominated for a Jessie Richardson Award in 1989 in the category Outstanding Supporting Performance by an Actor for his work on the play, A Lie of the Mind. He appeared in Toronto in the 2006 Soulpepper production of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town. Leslie Merle Carlson was 81 when he died in Toronto.
