Leo Leyden

Leo Leyden was a distinguished actor who was born in Dublin and moved to Canada in the early 1950s. He lived in Toronto and New York where he died peacefully in hospital. He made his theatrical debut at the Gaiety Theatre, Dublin in 1947. He made his Broadway debut playing the role of Bevill Higgins in the play Love and Libel at the Martin Beck Theatre, opening on December 7, 1959. His 13th and last performance on Broadway was in King Lear in early 2004. His London stage debut was in 1965 as the Clergyman in Tom Jones at the Leatherhead Theatre. His TV debut came thanks to the CBC when he played a Policeman in a production of The Telltale Heart in 1957.
