James Eugene Carrey was born in Newmarket, Ontario, just a short drive north of Toronto. Like so many funny people before him, his beginnings are marked by constant uncertainty. He was the youngest of four children, and his dad had great difficulty making ends meet. He was a musician, who played saxophone and clarinet who would supplement his meagre income by occasionally taking jobs as an accountant. Carrey was raised to understand the necessity of work, the need to earn money, the absolute truth of survival. In early 2018 it was announced that Jim Carrey will star in his first regular television role since his days on the 1990’s sketch show In Living Color. Titled Kidding, the Showtime comedy series was carried in Canada by HBO Canada.
Update: In early October 2020, Jim Carrey portrayed former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden in a debate sketch against Alec Baldwin’s version of President Donald Trump on an episode of Saturday Night Live.
